JPG vs PNG vs WebP: Which Format Should You Use?

JPG works almost everywhere and is usually the safest format for forms, email, marketplaces, and older tools. It is best for photos, but it does not support transparent backgrounds.

PNG is a better fit for logos, screenshots, UI graphics, and images that need transparent areas. PNG files can be larger than JPG, so compress them when upload size matters.

WebP often creates smaller files while keeping good visual quality. It is useful for faster websites, but some older apps and upload forms still prefer JPG or PNG.
